Trilogy Architecture - Mixed-Use Building
Because we believe passionately in sustainability and urban infill, we took on the monumental task of turning an abandoned and dilapidated gas station into a high density mixed-use, sustainable and green structure. We were intent on a mixed use structure from the start because mixed-use buildings are essential to a vital downtown and efficient use of resources. Our take on the design, of course, started with modern lines, bold colors and the use of traditional materials in non-traditional ways – which is a signature of our work.
When we speak to clients about managing their construction planning and budgets we speak from a place of expertise; this project is no exception as we worked as our own general contractor. Because sustainability is one of our guiding principles, we added photo-voltaic panels to our roofing which now provides 80% of our power needs. We find that living our values is the best display that they really work to everyone’s benefit: ours, yours and most importantly the planet’s.
We aimed for the delicate balance of both open spaces for gathering, letting in light and the surrounding landscape, as well as private spaces to meet and work.
The Challenge
Adaptive reuse is part of the Trilogy core ethos and we believed we must live our values for our flagship offices. Taking a toxic former gas station and turning the site into one of the most striking and inspiring buildings on main street certainly makes the ultimate calling card.
