By early 1990, it had become apparent to the 50 or so churchgoers in this rural community that a chapel was badly needed to accommodate their ongoing worship services. When a local parishioner generously donated five beautiful wooded acres, their dream began to take shape. As the designers, we were inspired by the site to create a window behind the altar to make a visual connection to a natural environment rarely seen from the interior of a church. Every detail of the exposed structure was carefully thought out, with our design of the furniture intended to mimic the building’s architecture. In the end, this became a labor of love by both architect and client.
