A Comfort Line

Climate Design Research

We have been on a mission for more than twenty-five years to strengthen the connection between buildings and the outdoor environment. In 2012, we had the opportunity to reach out to a wider audience with our ideas through a TEDx talk given by our principal architect James Theimer. In order to better explain our ideas on climate design, we researched climate data and created what we call Climate Comfort maps. James used these maps in his talk to explain how architects can design their buildings to ‘open up” more to the outdoors. Our goals are to both reduce energy use and create healthier indoor-outdoor environments.

And maybe, by connecting us more strongly to our natural environment remind us all of the importance of protecting that environment.
