Building Downtown Momentum

Yuba Street Streetscape

Following up on the success of the Market Street improvements completed in 1998, the Redding Redevelopment Agency again hired Trilogy to design a new streetscape for nearby Yuba Street. Working with the “kit of parts” street elements originally designed in conjunction with local community members, we widened sidewalks, added Redding’s signature downtown light poles, and added shade trees and decorative benches. Believing public art is an integral part of all successful downtowns, we introduced renowned artist Donna Billick to our project, integrating her unique “rock art” into the intersection of Yuba and Oregon Streets. A few years later, we donated our time to work with a local service organization in the design of a new clock to be installed on the street, because as we like to say, “design never ends”.
